The Northern Beaches Community Network stands as a grassroots movement in Mackay, driven by a collective passion for fostering positive change within the Northern Beaches area.
Formed by local residents, this community initiative advocates for enhanced services, upgraded infrastructure, and expanded facilities to meet the evolving needs of the growing community.
With the support of Amanda Camm MP, the network serves as a conduit for community engagement, amplifying voices and channelling concerns to effect meaningful improvements.
Through collaborative efforts and proactive outreach, the network endeavours to create a more vibrant and resilient community environment, where residents thrive and opportunities abound.
By harnessing the support of collective community action, the Northern Beaches Community Network seeks to be a voice for the residents who call the Northern Beaches home.

Northern Beaches Mum & Bub Walk & Talk
Build Community, Build Wellbeing
Mums with babies or young children are invited to a free morning of gentle movement, mindfulness and connection along the beautiful Bucasia Esplanade.
Come with a friend or come on your own and meet someone new. The walk is relaxed and suitable for prams, babies, toddlers and all walking speeds—there is no required distance or pace.
What to expect
9:00am: Arrive and mingle
9:15am: Welcome and mindfulness introduction
9:30am: Mums and Bubs Walk & Talk
10:20am: Free coffee, conversation and connection
11:15am: Official finish
This welcoming community event is about connection and wellbeing, not intense exercise. It’s an opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, meet other local mums and begin building friendships and support networks that may continue well beyond the morning.

Northern Beaches Community Walk & Talk
Sunday 11 October 2026 | Build Community, Build Wellbeing
Spend your Sunday morning outdoors and connect with your local community during a relaxed Walk & Talk along Bucasia Esplanade.
Everyone is welcome—children, adults, families, friends, neighbours and prams. Come with someone you know, come on your own and meet someone new, or simply enjoy some mindful time in nature.
The morning
8:00am: Arrive and connect at the big shade shelter on Bucasia Esplanade
8:15am: Walk & Talk at a comfortable pace
9:15am: Light refreshments at Beachfront Bar & Restaurant
There is no set walking distance or pace. Walk for as long as you like and turn around whenever you’re ready. Gentle mindfulness prompts will be available along the way to encourage conversation, reflection and connection with your surroundings.
Important information
This is a walking event—no bikes or scooters on the walk, please.
Prams are very welcome.
Dogs must remain on a lead, with one dog per person.
Please park respectfully and avoid blocking local driveways.
Additional parking is available in surrounding streets, including Waverley Street.
Light refreshments are provided, with coffee available to purchase.

Northern Beaches Community Christmas Carols Brings the Community Together
The Northern Beaches Community Christmas Carols was a heart-warming success, bringing locals together for a joyful afternoon of music, connection and festive cheer at the Bucasia Esplanade on Sunday 14 December.
From 3:00pm through to sunset, families, friends and neighbours gathered by the beach with rugs, camp chairs and Christmas spirit in tow. The event stayed true to its vision of being a wholesome, low-key community celebration - no big stages or flashy lighting, just people coming together to share the magic of Christmas.
The afternoon featured live music from Psychedelic Hart Attack, followed by much-loved Christmas carols and classics led by Rebel Uke. Choir performances by Bella Mammas, Unheard Voices Collective and the impromptu Community Choir led by Margie Ross created special moments of togetherness, while children enjoyed free face painting and festive fun. The Lions sausage sizzle, cold drinks and sweet treats from the Bucasia Girl Guides kept everyone well fed as the community settled in for the evening.
This event was proudly delivered by the Mackay Northern Beaches Lions Club and the Northern Beaches Community Network, with the generous support of many local volunteers who gave their time before, during and after the event. Their shared effort truly showcased the strength and generosity of the Northern Beaches community. Thank you to Meat&Co and Crusty's Bakery for their donations towards to the Lions BBQ and Meat Raffle.
Special thanks also go to Mackay Regional Council for supporting the event through their Community Christmas Grant. Together, this collective support made it possible to deliver a memorable Christmas celebration that reflected the true spirit of community. 🎄
We hope this event showcased what is possible in our community when we work together in big and small ways to enrich the Northern Beaches.
