Community has won on eKindy pods
MEMBER for Whitsunday Amanda Camm MP, has welcomed the decision by the Queensland Government to rescind the decision to close all eKindy pods for 2024.
Ms Camm stated that it was a win for regional communities with the eKindy pod program remaining in place for 2024.
“This is another example of the Queensland Government not engaging in proper community consultation. I am extremely proud of the families that contacted my office once they heard that the eKindy pods would not continue into 2024. They advocated for their children and their communities, and I was happy to help raise their voices to get the decision overturned”, Ms Camm said.
The eKindy pod program enables children who are registered for eKindy to attend facilitated learning at a pod at a local school 1 day per week. This gives children the opportunity to learn with their peers and develop important social skills.
Ms Camm stated that there will be eKindy pods operating in our region at Bloomsbury and Seaforth Schools for 2024 and encourages any families requiring further information to contact her office on 4845 3100 or to register with Brisbane Distance Education on 3727 2860 or via email ekindy@brisbanesde.eq.edu.au
“This is a great outcome for the educational development of our region’s children, which will help strengthen our smaller communities and strengthen the longevity and success of our smaller schools”, Ms Camm stated.
